I have always viewed my leadership as a little different than a normal leader. When it comes down to it, I think i can be the kind of leader I need to be for each situation.
The book Chapter 11 talks about formal leaders and informal leaders. Formal leadership is really not me. I think it is so important to lead by example, it speaks so much louder than a person standing up there taking control. An imforamal leader are members of the group whose authority to influence stems from the power they gain through their interactions in the group. Informal leaders do not have legitimate powe; rather, their influence comes from their expertise or the textent that other group members like and respect them. I think this really describes the way I like to lead best.
A formal leader can be the person assigned or appointed but really who are they if they can't lead by example, and be on the same level (to an extent) than everyone else. I think it is very important to have a designated leader one that will take control and have a level of respect. I believe a leader is someone you grow to respect and look up to, and hope that is who I am and become.
